XCWeather Mobile

XCWeather now has a mobile version that provides some of the XCWeather goodness wherever you happen to be.

To view the site, point your phone at: http://xcweather.co.uk/m

Updates for Version 2:

Android Support

Support for Android has always been the number one request so the mobile site should now work with any phone running Android 1.5 or greater.

Forecasts for any location

Next up are forecasts for any location, just type a Place or Postcode into the 'Get Forecast' field and a freshly generated forecast will be displayed in the same format that's used on the main site. To get the 'Advanced View' with pressure, visibility etc. just turn the phone to landscape.

Geo Location

If you click on the 'Current Location' button XCWeather will generate a forecast based on your phones current grid reference. You can also supply a place name of 'here' to get the same effect.

All Countries

Support is now available for France, Germany, Italy and Spain, just select the desired country from the drop down menu on the start screen and then find your stations by Name or Region. The maps should also display for the selected country.

Bookmark !

Navigation on mobile devices is always a bit fiddly so don't forget to bookmark your favorite locations and forecasts so that you can go directly to the information you need rather than plod through the menus.

Unfortunately there's a bug with the standard Android 2.1 browser that causes the detailed forecast page to break and I've been unable to find a workaround (despite a lot of trying). If you can't upgrade to Android 2.2 then you may find that alternative browsers will work.

Installing XCWeather on iPhone

Follow the instructions below to install XCWeather on your iPhone home screen.

Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5
Start Safari and enter the address

xcweather.co.uk/m

Don't forget the '/m'

When XCWeather has loaded, select the '+' button (bookmark) from the bottom of the screen. From the pop-up box select the
'Add to Home Screen' button
Press the 'Add' button at the top right. VoilĂ , you should now have an XCWeather icon right there with all your other apps.

N.B. The iPhone version of XCWeather is a Web App which means you won't find it in the Apple App Store as it's loaded from the internet.
